Rugby Shirts

Rugby shirts are the tops which are typical worn by rugby players during a game. Traditional rugby shirts are sometimes called jerseys and they are rather similar in style to polo shirt with a collar and buttons in the same manner although rugby shirts will be designed to fairly hard wearing as rugby is often a very aggressive game and clothing could easily be damaged by a tackle or in a scrum. Rugby shirts may have ether short of long sleeves.

Modern rugby shirts are made to be skin tight and have very small collars so that opposing players have nothing loose to grab onto when executing a tackle, even though this is against the rules this tight fitting rugby shirts eliminate the possibility of player trying this. Differences in styles exist between the rugby shirts worn by rugby league and rugby union players, with league players wearing shirts which have colouration quite similar to the shirts worn by football teams. However rugby union teams will often wear more traditional rugby shirts that are often stripped or carry a harlequin pattern in two colours.

Many people also wear rugby shirts casually and many clothing companies will manufacture rugby shirts which have no affiliation with a particular team of club so people may wear them just for the look.
